Joe playing a Witt Percussion 14" x 6.5" solid oak shell snare with Califone while on tour in St Gallen, Switzerland

I've been meaning to write you about the drum. I just got done with my European tour where I played the drum for 19 consecutive shows. If that isn't a test of a drum I don't know what is. Well, at first I thought it was on the bright side, but my radio king is exceptionally dark and when i compared it to another drum it was darker than average. It warmed up after playing it for a while too. I started out having it tuned fairly high and then it settled down to a lower pitch. I can say that it is a contender with my two favorite drums, both radio kings. That is saying a lot! Those drums are two of the best drums I've ever heard... Thanks Ian for making one hell of a drum.

Hey Ian, sorry I haven't replied sooner, but it's been a busy week. The snare arrived safely last Friday. I gotta tell you; I was expecting it to be one serious snare drum. Obviously. Handmade...custom, to order...solid
shell...etc. But this drum has far surpassed what I was expecting it to be. What a sound! Like no other in my collection. (and I have some good ones) At first glance, your construction is top-notch. Your components are top notch. The quilt in the maple was a nice surprise to see, and the finish on the shell is beautiful. As soon as I could, I took it to my rehearsal studio and played a non-stop, 30min snare solo just to get it out of my system. The drum is incredibly responsive to my every dynamic. Without much energy, at all, it puts out a loud, full-bodied sound. And it responded to by every ruff and buzz roll at every spot on the head. I'm glad we went 6 1/2 deep. I can hear all that maple!! You gave me exactly what I was looking for...a secret weapon in my snaredrum arsenal that I can pull out at any studio session or live show and have it be the best of the best. Oh, and I used it at a show a day after it arrived and the sound guy, who mixes me every weekend, was amazed by the sound. And I recorded a drum track yesterday in the studio and MAN, was it a sweet "CRACK" on the playback. I'll get you a preview of that as soon as I can. This is my favorite snare drum. Period! So, I'm one seriously happy customer. Good work! I'll recommend these drums to everyone. Would you consider making a tom? I can't imagine how nice a solid-shell tom would sound. I'm always looking for studio weapons
